Background
TC4BE responds to the biodiversity emergency associated with globalised agro-food systems by targeting the EU’s telecoupled commodity chains with producer countries such as Cameroon, Colombia and Kenya. It brings together social and environmental scientists and diverse stakeholders to understand how political economies, governance arrangements, values and social norms can be shifted to support regenerative, biodiversity-positive and equitable agro-food futures.
Aims/Objectives
To assess the nexus between extraction, production, consumption, trade, behaviour patterns and climate change action, and their combined impacts on biodiversity in the context of transformative change.
To co-generate knowledge, tools and stakeholder engagement on transformative change pathways for telecoupled agro-food systems that improve biodiversity and equity outcomes between the EU and producer countries.
To evaluate sustainability transitions through legal pathways, including rights of nature, ecocide and restorative justice, as mechanisms for advancing transformative governance for biodiversity and equity.
